Posted by Pure Science Supplements on

Aging is inevitable and there is no literal fountain of youth. No matter how good we look when we were 18 years old, at 68, there is a wide difference when it comes to your health, vitality, and looks. We may want to reverse the aging process but since it is a normal part of life, it cannot be completely reversed. The good news is, even if you are past 60 years old, there are superfoods that help bring back the vitality and the glow of your youthful years. These superfoods, too, may even bring back that masculinity of better days. One way we can reverse aging is by incorporating these superfoods into your diet.

Add these superfoods to your diet either daily or every other day to maximize its benefits in bringing back your youthfulness.

Broccoli

Cruciferous vegetables such as broccoli, cabbages, cauliflower, kale, and brussels sprouts are extremely rich in several vitamins and minerals. They are also rich in chlorophyll, especially the green part that provides antioxidant effects to the body. Cruciferous vegetables help detoxify the body and prevent cellular oxidation and damage. It also reduces the likelihood of cancer. So add in broccoli or kale to your juiced drinks or stir fried recipes, it tastes good and is a powerhouse of nutrition.

Tongkat Ali

Tongkat Ali, also known as eurycoma longifolia, helps boost testosterone levels. Perhaps one of the most important biomarkers of aging is the level of testosterone. The more men age, the less the body produces testosterone. This also goes vice versa. When that natural mechanism happens, this begins the decline of many processes in the male biology, including sexual capacity, physical capacity, and mental capacity. So don’t take your testosterone levels for granted and add Tongkat Ali supplements in your diet. It will also help fuel your sex drive.

Beets

The color of the food you eat determines the nutrients you get. This red superfood helps keep men young by improving the blood circulation throughout the body, helping the body distribute oxygen, as well as all the other nutrients to other parts of the body. It is also rich in iron that helps your body produce red blood cells and prevent anemia. You can add beets to your salads or to your smoothies.

Maca Root

Maca is a root that grows in the volcanic soils of Peru where it absorbs the nutrients of the soil since not too many plants grow there. Maca is an adaptogen that helps reverse aging by allowing the body adapt to stressful situations internally as well as by improving your state of mind. It is also rich in magnesium and other minerals that improve your energy levels and concentration.

Blueberries

The older you get, the more prone to cancer you are. Blueberries reduce the risk of you getting cancer due to its rich antioxidant content. It contains anthocyanin, a type of antioxidants that boosts immune response and reduces cellular damage and oxidation. Plus, blueberries taste so good. You can add blueberries to your cakes, smoothies, or any type of dessert and it would just taste delectable. In fact, it would be hard to resist a dessert when you add blueberries to it.

Lemon

One of the richest sources of vitamin C, lemon helps reverse aging in many ways. Vitamin C helps keep the skin supple by helping the body produce more collagen. It also helps improve immune response. Vitamin C is a water-soluble vitamin which means that it has to be replenished daily which means you can have as much lemon as you like. And guess what, lemon is alkaline when taken inside the body despite its reputation to be acidic outside the body. So add it in any recipe, make lemon water, or add it to your cup of tea. It will add a fresh citrus taste to your drink.

Tomatoes

Did your mother always make the best pasta recipe? Perhaps you should learn how to cook that spaghetti since tomatoes are rich in lycopene, a red carotene that is extremely helpful for the body. The carotene in tomatoes helps protect the skin, lungs, prostate, and colon against cancers. Tomatoes also help lower the risk of macular degeneration. So when you are getting hungry, make a spaghetti with tomatoes, or a salad with tomatoes. And if you are out on the bar, a glass of Bloody Mary might give you that dose of lycopene.

Green Tea

Chinese and Japanese populations have been acknowledged as those that have the highest lifespans. These cultures also take green tea. It is no surprise that green tea helps promote longevity since it contains polyphenols that help eliminate free radicals and help reduce inflammation. Green tea also reduces cellular damage and reduces the risk of cancers. Regularly drinking green tea has been linked to reducing ulcers, psoriasis, heart diseases, and it goes on to even protect the skin.

Olives and extra virgin olive oil

Most of us avoid fat but there are types of fats that are good for us. One of which is present in olive oil. These good fats help keep the skin supple, wrinkle-free, and glowing. Extra virgin olive oil helps us absorb vitamins and omega-3 fatty acids due to its oleic acid content. Oleic acid helps keep the cell membranes supple and helps the cells absorb nutrients properly. Add some olives to your salad or try the Mediterranean diet which incorporates olives and olive oils into their salads to enjoy its rich taste and nutrient.

If you ever worry that you are getting old, shrug it off. That’s part of life. It’s natural. The important thing is that you are following a healthy lifestyle to help you age gracefully so that when people your age have deteriorating health, you are still on the go because you did your homework by eating these superfoods.
